Anyway, these are just a few things that I started out with or that I believe will be good for people who are just starting out.
P.S. I would like to apologise for the state of some of the packaging as they are getting a bit worn now as they've been floating around my make up bag.
Face
Foundation:
Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation
- 010 Light Porcelain
This was the first foundation I ever bought, and I still love it! It gives a light coverage so it barely feels like it's even on your face. Especially if your starting out with makeup and your skin isn't too bad, then I'd definitely go for a light coverage foundation. This gives such a nice, radiant look, yet still looks natural.
Concealer:
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
- Fair
This is a good concealer, with good coverage. It instantly brightens and covers dark circles and hides blemishes. However it can crease under the eyes, but that doesn't really affect me as all you have to do is lightly dab it in. Also, as you can see, the writing on the packaging rubs of very easily and quickly, I guess it doesn't really matter though as it's what's on the inside that counts!
Powder:
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder
- 001 Transparent
For me, unlike others, powder is an essential. It just makes your make up stay on and also look better in general. I understand that some people don't usually use powder as they don't feel like they need it, so if you feel like that then its completely okay. This is my second one of these as I used the first one all up! I personally like transparent powders. I love this powder a lot.
Primer:
Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser
Primer just makes your make up go on so much nicer and makes it stay all day! With this primer, I definitely feel like it makes your make up stay on longer and it also feels so nice and smooth on the face.
Bronzer:
Rimmel Natural Bronzer
- 002 Sun Bronze
I don't feel like bronzer and me are best friends to be honest with you. I have very pale skin so bronzers tend to look quite orange on me. However I do sometimes like to contour to define my cheekbones and bronze up my face a bit.
Blush:
Rimmel Lasting Finsih Soft Colour Blush
- 010 Santa Rose
I love love love blush! I feel like the pinky colours go really nicely with my skin tone and I much prefer blush to bronzer! I really like this blush as it is not too harsh and looks quite natural, but still beautiful on the skin.
Highlighter:
MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter
- Iridescent Gold
I really like highlighter as I think that it can just really lift the face and give it such a nice, bright glow! This comes in 3 colours I believe, however I read online that the more white one goes better with pale skin.
Eyes
Mascara:
Maybelline Rocket Volum' Express Mascara
Mascara is a must have in my opinion and I can never go without it. I think it makes your eyelashes and eyes in general just look amazing and has such an impact on someone's look. I really like this mascara as it separates the lashes really nicely and gives a good amount of volume and length. I sometimes wear this one to school as it is slightly more natural than some other mascaras.
Eyeshadow:
Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo
- Pink Gold
This is a cream eyeshadow and is so easy to apply! You don't need any brushes or anything, and is so easy to blend throughout the crease. It is also such a pretty colour! I love this.
Eyeliner:
Rimmel Scandal Eyes Precision Micro Eyeliner
This is a liquid eyeliner so it does take a bit of practice and getting used to. I still haven't quite mastered it haha. But it has a felt tip like top / brush so should be quite easy to glide on. It just evens out the eyes a bit, especially if you're wearing pencil eyeliner on the lower lash line.
Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Pencil
This is a pencil eyeliner and I love to wear it on my lower lash line as I feel like it really defines my eyes and brings out the colour. I don't wear this to school as it is quite noticeable, but anywhere else I go, I wear it.
Lips
Lipbalm:
Nivea Hydro Care Lip Balm
I cannot go anywhere without my lipbalm. I have been through so many tubes of this and absolutely love it! It is so hydrating and also has SPF 15 to protect your lips from the sun, which I'd like to point out is very important. I do understand that many people like tinted lipbalms, as I do sometimes, if so then I'd recommend the Maybelline Baby Lips.
Lipstick:
Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick
- 006 Pink Blush
Lipstick isn't for everyone as some people prefer lipgloss or something more hydrating. But this is an amazing lipstick that lasts for ages and doesn't dry out your lips. It is such a pretty pink colour and is 100% my favourite drugstore lipstick.
Lipgloss:
Tanya Burr Lipgloss
- Chic
As I previously mentioned, some people are more into lipglosses. I happen to be in the middle and like both lipglosses and lipsticks. This is such a nice natural colour, that also provides a nice shine to the lips. It isn't too sticky like most lipglosses, and it smells like strawberry laces!
Brushes
Real Techniques Brushes
(left to right) - Powder Brush, Blush Brush, Buffing Brush, and Contour Brush
Real Techniques are my favourite brush brand as they are so nice and soft, but also really good blending and applying makeup. These are just a few of my favourite essentials.
Drugstore Eyelash Curlers
Curling your eyelashes just gives a really nice curl to them and makes them look a bit more volumous. I feel like mascara goes on and stays on better if the eyelashes have been curled.
I would like to point out that you shouldn't feel pressured into wearing makeup. You don't need to wear it just because your friends are, or you want someone to notice and like you. Nobody should feel this way or like they have to hide behind make up. Make up should just be fun to experiment and fun to build up a collection. Thank you so much for reading this blog post, I know it was quite long so I apologise for that.
